Welcome to “That Frugal Pharmacist”
Why am I here?
There are a few things that should be clear from the title. I’m frugal, at least in my opinion, compared to the average consumer. Also, I am a pharmacist.
I’ll be quite honest, I’m not really sure where I am going with this blog yet. We’re all complicated people with various interests and areas of expertise. And, at least until I get some feedback from potential readers on areas of interest, I’m mostly going to be talking to myself here. That means, whatever interests me at the moment will be my topic.
More than I can keep inside
I find myself having more that I want to say at times, or feeling that I may have good advice for people. But I don’t want to force that on people, I would prefer that they are choosing to hear what I have to say rather than me offering it unsolicited.
A love of learning and need for growth
I’m also hoping to learn more regarding personal finance. I think I’m doing quite well given my age and level of career advancement, but, a lot is simply based on my ability to SAVE.
I’m reaching the point where I am going to have to start paying someone to do the thinking for me, or, I need to learn more. It seems having an outlet like this invites more input from other like minded individuals.
I would also love to be semi-retired at any point in the near future. I’m thinking 4-6 years. I say semi-retired, because I do find some satisfaction in my career and would not want to abandon it completely. Plus, as a well compensated professional, a few days of working a month would afford my family more opportunities and myself some flexibility to stop working full time earlier.
So what else might you want to know about me at the moment? Well, I am a woman. I am a mother. Since we’re a frugal family, unsurprisingly, we are always involved in some sort of do it yourself type project. We educate ourselves on methods of self sufficiency, gardening and the like.
Frugality: “the quality of being economical with money or food; thriftiness.”Some online dictionary
My definition is a little looser. I try to think of myself as frugal in many other ways. As a pharmacist I advocate for less medications if possible. That’s complicated enough for a post on it’s own and could probably take up the content of an entire blog if planned appropriately.
